Is there any commands that we can use to show something like show arp that will display mac address, ip address and interface in one table. I have 4 access switches, 1 core switches, and 1 srx firewall, while i run show arp in srx, yes there lot of output, but when run the same command on core switch or access switch nothing display.
I know there is a command "show ethernet-switching table brief", but this will show you mac address with interface, without ip address. Unless I missed something myself, I don't think there is. I typically use a combination of the mac-learning-log and arp. You can add match as well to narrow down your search.
There isn't a way to do this natively yet, but there is an op script up at the Junoscriptorium that will do just this:. Thanksi have checked many notes and knowledge base from you.

In operational mode, you can 'show vlan' and that will show all the interfaces assigned to that vlan. If an interface is in trunk mode, is there any way to get an output to display all the vlans assigned to an interface with the configuration detailed below?

Our TechWiki needs you!Configuring PoE Interfaces. Power over Ethernet PoE ports on EX Series switches supply electric power over the same ports that are used to connect network devices. These ports enable you to plug in devices that require both network connectivity and electric power, such as VoIP phones, wireless access points, and some IP cameras.
This reduces the amount of wiring in a network, and also eliminates the need to position a powered device near an AC power outlet, making network design more flexible and efficient. For example, to enable telemetry collection on all interfaces, using the default collection duration and interval:.
For PoE to be enabled on all PoE-capable interfaces, the configuration must include the interface all statement in the [edit poe] hierarchy level. With the exception of EX switches that were shipped from the factory with a Junos OS release earlier than Release When you configure an individual interface, its configuration overrides any settings you configure with the set poe interface all command.
Power over Ethernet PoE ports supply electric power over the same ports that are used to connect network devices and enable you to plug in devices that require both network connectivity and electric power, such as VoIP phones, wireless access points, and some IP cameras.
You do not need to configure PoE unless you want to modify the default values or disable PoE on a specific interface. EX switches support PoE configuration on virtual chassis members only when operating in a mixed Virtual Chassis with EX switches. Performed the initial switch configuration. The topology used in this example consists of a switch that has 24 ports. The remaining 16 ports provide only network connectivity.
You use the standard ports to connect devices that have their own power sources, such as desktop and laptop computers, printers, and servers. The show poe interface command lists PoE interfaces configured on the switch, with their status, priority, power consumption, and class.
This output shows that eight interfaces have been created with default values and are consuming power at the expected rates. Troubleshooting PoE Interfaces. Power over Ethernet PoE ports supply electric power over the same ports that are used to connect network devices. These ports enable you to plug in devices that need both network connectivity and electric power, such as VoIP phones, wireless access points, and some IP cameras. You can configure a PoE port to have a high power priority setting.
If a situation arises where there is not sufficient power for all the PoE ports, the available power is directed to the higher priority ports, while power to the lower priority ports is shut down as needed. Thus you must set ports that connect to security cameras, emergency phones, and other high priority powered devices to high-priority.
Show vlans assigned to interfaces
The default priority for PoE interfaces is low. To quickly set some interfaces to high priority and to include descriptions of the interfaces, copy the following commands and paste them into the switch terminal window:.
To verify that PoE interfaces have been created and are operational, perform the following tasks:.I use show vlan command, vlan 30 is for wifi, but there is no interface appeared. The Show Vlan command will only show access ports which are members of the corresponding Vlans.
Trunk ports carry all Vlans by default so they don't appear in this output. The second command above will probably show port 30 as it includes anything with 30 but you can just ignore this port unless it also is in Vlan To add a port to vlan 30 use switchport access vlan 30 after switchport mode access.
Once you add these two commands to a port, sh vlan will show you the correct information. Are you trying to connect a switch to another switch, or are you trying to assign a vlan to an access port?
These are two very different goals. You cannot assign a vlan to a trunk, but you can permit only one vlan onto a trunk with the switchport trunk allowed vlan 30 command as you mentioned above. Disabling a Logical Interface. The logical interfaces can be configured and the description is displayed in the output of the show commands. Media maximum transmission unit MTU is automatically calculated when configuring an interface and can also be modified.
Simple Network Management Protocol SNMP notifications can be enabled on the logical interface to provide information about the state of an interface or when a connection changes.
You assign an address to an interface by specifying the address when configuring the protocol family. For the inet or inet6 family, configure the interface IP address. For the iso family, configure one or more addresses for the loopback interface. For the cccethernet-switchingtccmplstnpand vpls families, you never configure an address.
The point-to-point PPP address is taken from the loopback interface address that has the primary attribute. When the loopback interface is configured as an unnumbered interface, it takes the primary address from the donor interface. To configure an IPv4 address on routers and switches running Junos OS, use the interface interface-name unit number family inet address a.
You can configure the same IPv4 address on multiple physical interfaces. When you assign the same IPv4 address to multiple physical interfaces, the operational behavior of those interfaces differs, depending on whether they are implicitly or explicitly point-to-point. By default, all interfaces are assumed to be point-to-point PPP interfaces. For all interfaces except aggregated Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, and Gigabit Ethernet, you can explicitly configure an interface to be a point-to-point connection.
If you configure the same IP address on multiple interfaces in the same routing instance, Junos OS applies the configuration randomly on one of the interfaces.
The other interfaces will remain without an IP address. To configure an IPv6 address on routers and switches running Junos OS, use the interface interface-name unit number family inet6 address aaaa : bbbb You represent IP version 6 IPv6 addresses in hexadecimal notation using a colon-separated list of bit values. The double colon :: represents all bits set to 0.The MX and EX are very different. The MX is a router, than can also do lots of layer 2. That said it does things very different to an EX.
According to these guys:. I gave it a go and it worked for me. I also added an irb interface just to have another ip address in the same vlan for testing.
That's actually the problem I'm experiencing, hosts on the MX are ok to ping between each other and the irb, but can't get them to talk to hosts on the other side of the trunk, on a switch on the same vlan. I used two cisco s, as the hosts. One with the IP address on the physical interface facing the access port on the MX80 and the second with the trunk interface, I created a SVI on the in the same vlan. Sign In.

Hi there We just received our shiny brand new MX80 and I'm trying to make it work in a similar fashion to what we have in our EX The idea is that I have a trunk port on both the EX and the MX80 connecting the 2 together and I want to be able to connect hosts no tag to access ports on both devices on same vlan and be able to communicate between the 2 hosts.
I know the EX side is fine, because it connects to other Juniper and cisco devices in trunk mode fine.Select a console port using the console switch on the rear panel: Select the mini USB port on the rear panel cable included as the console port by pushing the slide switch to the left.
Here is the config you should have: Switch1 Source switch. Check the routing engine control plane. Looking at the Juniper side it looks like I just set the port as a L2 uplink. To view the status of a specific interface information on Juniper Router running on JunOS, use the following command syntax.

The VFP virtual machine can have up to ten interfaces. Juniper also provide the same feature. The switch monitors network activity by copying all traffic inbound and outbound on the specified interfaces to the designated monitoring port, to which a network analyzer can be attached. Port Mode Encapsulation Status Native vlan. The code result of the command shows that traffic for VLANs On MX Series routers, you can configure a trunk interface on a bridge network.
Depending on the uplink module, it will have either two or four ports. Within this article we will look at how to configure a trunk and access port as switchports aka ethernet-switching. Configure Switch Port Security. Duo is a user-centric access security platform that provides two-factor authentication, endpoint security, remote access solutions and more to protect sensitive data at scale for all users, all devices and all applications.
Ever see this message on an interface before? By Walter J. The switch port connected to the router must be a trunk port in order to be able to carry both VLANs towards the router port. Luckily, you can find the installation file flying somewhere on the Internet. Juniper switches use the RSTP costs and therefore this may lead to different spanning tree calculations and loop problems.
Also, some handy shortcut.
Configuring the management IP address on EX series switch. I have assigned the trunk interface ae0 to the RVI on the Juniper switch. Cisco Router Show Commands - Handy show commands to check on the status of interfaces.
Multiple virtual switches share a single MAC table. Everything works. In my previous Junos Basics post I covered configuring an Switch monitoring is essential to maintain your network in a healthy state. A network was build using tree topology with Open vSwitch switches with the control of OpenDaylight as SDN controller making use of OpenFlow13 to talk to south bound switches.
So switches…. If the switch cannot reach the default router through a VLAN then an interface that connects to the router which does these routing needs to configured as a routed interface and assigned with an IP address that is in the same subnet as that of the Default router.
